JP Gonçalves accepts a limited number of commissioned works in both Shadow Pointillism and Shadow Silhouettes.
A commission may begin with a person, a meaningful photograph, an animal or another subject you would like to explore. Each project begins with a conversation to determine whether the image and concept are suited to the process.

Individuals, couples, families, animals and other subjects may be considered. Depending on the image, the number of individual elements and overall scale can be adjusted to achieve the level of detail the composition requires.
Each element is individually positioned to interact with light as part of the complete image.
Custom Shadow Silhouettes are also possible, although not every subject translates successfully into silhouette.
The strongest compositions are subjects with distinctive, recognizable forms. Each proposed image is evaluated individually to determine whether it can create a visually clear and compelling shadow.
If a particular idea is not well suited to the process, alternative compositions may be suggested.
Every commission is different. Pricing depends primarily on the type of work, dimensions, materials, complexity and, for Shadow Pointillism, the number of individually positioned elements required.
After the initial images and concept have been reviewed, you will receive a proposal outlining the artwork, dimensions, price and expected timeline before deciding whether to proceed.

Share a brief description of what you have in mind along with several photographs or reference images.

JP reviews the material and determines the best approach, including whether the project is better suited to Shadow Pointillism or Shadow Silhouettes.

A realistic digital mockup is developed along with the proposed dimensions, materials, price and estimated production schedule.

Once the commission is approved, the artwork is created individually by hand. Production time varies according to scale, complexity and current studio schedule. Most commissions should allow approximately 1–3 months from approval to completion.

Once completed, shipping and delivery arrangements are coordinated based on the artwork’s size and destination. International commissions are welcome.
